Question # 281

Q was written by a Sarah Josepha Hale in 1830. It was inspired by a true incident of a schoolgirl Ms. _____ Sawyer whose pet followed her to school. A Mr. John Rolstone, nephew of the school reverend, was highly amused by this, and wrote the first three lines on a paper, later handing that paper over to Ms. Hale, who completed it.
