Question # 194

Following is an excerpt from a Sherlock Holmes short story (i'm not telling which one you googlers)

Gregory (Scotland Yard Officer) - "Is there any other point to which you would wish to draw my attention?"
Holmes - "To the _______ ________ of the X in the _____-____."
Gregory - "The X did nothing in the _____-____."
Holmes - "That was the _______ ________."

This exchange of dialogue inspired the title of a brilliant and acclaimed book.
Unblank/ Name the book
(The two pairs of unhyphenated blanks are the same, and the two pairs of hyphenated blanks are the same. But the hyphenated and unhyphenated blanks are not the same. I would understand if you want to kick me.)
