Various explanations for it's weird name are given -

- It is named for the year it was introduced in a Chennai restaurant
- Amount of chilli that goes into preparing it
- Time taken for it to marinate
- It's position in an Army cook's recipe book
- No. of hormones that must be present for it to taste right (fuck me, i'm not kidding)
etc.
